Why do youth support Obama and older people support Hillary?

Is it because some youth are naive and easily impressionable? And because older people have been through many presidents and are more realistic - and can detect hot air?

Young people are more easily swayed by emotion. Older people read about the issues and then decide.

I know, I've been there. I was for Goldwater when I was in the 5th grade, just because I liked his AU H20 slogan. I liked Kennedy because he was better looking, more youthful, and energetic. But I had no idea of what either he nor Nixon were talking about. Over the years I have been increasingly aware and learned about the issues, and the possible effects of policies of candidates. I don't go by what they look like anymore or by how they speak. I go by what I read, which takes out all of the visual and sound bites, so that I can better understand exactly what each candidate plans to push.

And this study makes it increasingly difficult for me to decide which is the best candidate. They all have great ideas, otherwise they wouldn't have gotten this far in politics. So, it's just a matter of doing my best to try to figure out what I believe in my heart is the best one.

During this election campaign, I've been for almost all of the candidates. Right now, I'm leaning towards McCain, but if he gets Huckabee or some rightwinger as his VP running mate, I'll switch over and vote for whichever Dem gets the nomination.

By the way, it's really dumb to say that older people don't care what is going to happen to this country! Many old people plant fruit trees which won't ever provide fruit until they are long gone. Older people are often not nearly as selfish and self centered as younger people. I can't believe anyone would say that older people don't care about the future of this country. It's just an absurd thing to say.

My Dad considered voting for Obama, I'm sure, but he didn't. He voted for Clinton, when I thought he would vote Republican, since he has a lot of money. But he, at 86, is VERY concerned about this country. He says we are going broke, just like Paul has been saying. He is very much against the war in Iraq and has been from the beginning. Just because he doesn't have many years left, don't think that he hasn't invested a lot of time and energy into it, so he and many like him would hate to see it go downhill.
