My sons social issue?

My son is going to preschool he is 4 yrs old. He has been doing extracurricular activities since he first did gymboree at 18 months. I'm a stay at home mom and we go lots of places and at home is such a sweet boy but apparently he is immature for his age. I wanted to sign him up for preK next year and they said socially he is not ready. So he is going to the 4's class..I have no idea how to get him to listen to the teacher better of follow more complex instructions..He knows his letters and shapes and can do the simple math..What do i do differently??

Unfortunately the only way that children learn people skills is by being around other people. My daughter used to go to ballet class and gymboree and also every tuesday I would take her to a free clown show at my community where other moms would take their kids. In between that I would take her to the playground and places like that. And still when she started pre-school the teacher constantly complained that she did not know how to respect other kids personal space. She would sit too close and hug the other kids too much to the point that it would start to become annoying to the others. I used to worry and fret that she would have problems when kindergarten started. But the day eventually came and I had to send her to her first day at the public school. I have not had a single complaint since school started and she is now in 4th grade doing great. I think you should not worry so much about it and just let him go to his 4s class and he will be fine. He will acquire those social skills in no time and even if he is not all the way there, once he starts kindergarten, they treat them a little different and he will want to follow along because everyone else is doing it.
