Why is my rotty acting up?

She just turned 1. I haven't been home for about 6 weeks. Gone away to school. My girlfriend says she has been misbehaving. She bit into the couch where i always sit. She began digging up holes again. She asks for attention by grabbing peoples socks and bringing it to them. She also plays rougher with the boys who are 9 and 13. She nibs at their ankles. Nothing serious though.But should i be concerned about that? I've always been around her since she was 7 wks old. i trained her myself. She is house broken and knows many commands. But since i left, she has been acting up. What can my g/f and I do?

When you left, she began to miss your presence and position in her life. Maybe nobody stepped up enough to fill in clearly for you. She knows you're not there so she's testing the boundaries of her new leader. In any case, it takes a while for your dog to "understand" who her new leader is now. Even kids do this at school when there's a substitute teacher. (lol ~ I did.)

Try to be patient. Ask your girlfriend to try to maintain ALL the rules your rotty has learned and to try to let her know that nothing has changed.
No new house rules for her since you're gone. Don't get frustrated, and ask your g/f give your rotty plenty of good exercise.
