How do I tell if this cat is spayed?
I was given a cat by a woman yesterday, the cats original owner died and the woman that gave her to me didn't know much about the cat.
Is there a way to tell whether she is spayed or not? I also was wondering if there may be a way to tell how old it is, because she is missing some hair on the top of both ears. Thanks.
It's very difficult to tell if she's spayed for sure. Take her to the vet (I'm sure she's probably due for vaccines anyways). They can shave her belly & look for a spay incision scar.
The missing hair can be caused by numerous things. She may have ear mites. If so, they can be easily treated by the vet. Could be they've been frost bitten at some point....the list goes on....
It's nearly impossible to tell exactly how old a cat is after they reach adulthood. Hopefully the vet can at least tell you if she's young, middle aged or elderly.
