Can I bother someone for Sea Hare care instructions?
Our local marine shop is selling Sea Hare (green slugs) and I would love to get one or two but was told they need hair algae to eat. Is there anything else we can feed them or is this their main food source? (I never trust the pet store people for advice). We have a 55gal fish/live rock tank. Established 8 months with little algae except some coralline and green. Fish are: butterfly, coral beauty, clown w/anemone, two damsels.
I think what you're seeing at the store may be lettuce sea slugs if they're a "green slug" (see photo: http://www.augsburg.edu/biology/photoofmonth/tridachia-onglass.jpg ). These require good reef lighting and certain species of algae for feeding, and they generally don't survive more than a few months in a home aquarium, so it may be a good one for you to avoid.
If you want to read more about their care, see this link: http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-06/bcap/feature/index.php
