Why do men despise GOLD DIGGING WOMEN, yet buy and wear expensive things trying to impress them?

If you are a man and don't want to date a materialistic woman, then why oh why do you wear clothes, the latest sneakers, fake shiny watches and other expensive looking items trying to impress women?
Why do men think that showing off money is going to attract worthwhile women who aren't gold diggers?

ALL WOMEN regard wealth and status as appealing, not just gold diggers. They view it as being able to provide support for them and their future children. It's actually a genetic concept. Just like how men go for what they think seems a fertile woman. Generally, that tends to be wider/motherly hips. Studies have shown that you tend to choose people who closely resemble your DNA as well. I don't know the truthfulness of that, but it seems logical. Now, I wear nice watches because they look nice on me. I like to look at my self in the mirror and be like "lookin good", before I walk out the door. I couldn't care less for the gold-digger lookin my way and sayin "that's a nice watch, better get in his pocket".
