can you wear suede in the spring and in which season do you wear patent leather?

i have a pair of navy suede ballet flats and a suede skirt (tan/brown colored). Also I have patent leather heels and flats. Are there "rules' for suede and patent leather like the unwritten "don't wear white before Memorial Day and don't wear white after Labor Day" rule?

i wear suede year round. the only rule I have is if it is raining, I won't wear shoes or clothing made of suede.

navy is more of a spring/summer color, but is really a neutral. and I would wear patent leather year round.

and incidentally the white rule you mention is very out of date and not true. you can wear white year round as well, but just be careful of the color and fabric weight. like don't wear pure white linen in the dead of winter. wear cream or bone color wool.
